I have decided to work on a paper to help people look beyond the platitudes and code words that people use to avoid the horrible reality of abortion and explore its roots and consequences.

I wonder what people would think if you inserted the words Jew or Slave in place of abortion in their political discussions today. For instance, 'we may not agree on killing Jews, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted Jews in this country.' or 'we may not agree on slavery, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted slaves in this country.' Would these be acceptable statements by any sane and normal standard of a person of any or no political affiliation in our world today? Of course not! What is the difference between these situations and abortion? This really is the preeminent human rights issue of our time. I pray for the day that people look back on us with amazement at how we compromised and allowed such barbarism to continue in our society. Will they wonder how we could tolerate it or think its OK; the way we think about nazi-sympathizers and slave owners?
